New AlterFace ride for Walibi Park |
AlterFace’s press event was grandly opened at the park. The attraction tells the story of a cinema in which the popcorn comes to life and wreaks havoc in different “movie screenings.” During the 210-second experience, guests are transported through the 500sq.m ride on trackless booths, shooting the popcorns and gaining points for each one they hit. Each screening has it own theme including horror, pirate adventure and action. The booths are designed to go different routes, a concept the company calls an “erratic ride.” This means that players don’t see all the action in just one visit, promoting repeat play. It also achieves this by giving each player a score at the end and naming one player the winner, aiming to get visitors back in the door out of sheer competitiveness. “It is not a very big footprint for what is being offered,” said AlterFace CEO Benoit Cornet. “The shape of the ride means that it could be added to any number of sites.” Although, in Walibi, it will be one of many other attractions, all of which guests can enjoy by purchasing a single ticket when entering the park, he said that it is entirely conceivable that the attraction could be added to a shopping centre or a larger FEC. In this way, AlterFace has identified a niche in which rides can appeal to larger theme parks as well as smaller sites. (2019/07/18) |
