Overview of India Amusement Parks (1)

The chief editor of GTI especially visited the local amusement parks in Mumbai during the IAAPI Expo in February, including the famous Oberoi Mall of Namco Park and Timezone.  This report is divided into two parts: part (1) & part (2).  GTI team guides readers to learn the current situation in the India market by visiting amusement parks in Mumbai.  Want to learn what kinds of amusement machines are popular?  And what are the types of playground management?

Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai

1.    Racing products are formed into a separate game area at Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai.

2.    Wahlap has a variety of products operating in Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai, accounting for a high proportion of machines.

 

3.    Goods are available in all varieties of basketball machines, redemption machines, and crane machines, among others in Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai.

4.    The machines of UNIS are quite well known in the India market.

5.    Music Fairy from IGS is also loved by families.

6.    There are some equipment like climbing and inflatables in the Kid’s Zone .

 

In Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai, there are three fifths of the self-made products of Bandai Namco.  Then, the largest number of the remaining products is from Wahlap, followed by UNIS, and the gift machine like Taobao S from Tongli is also on show in the mall, as well as the products from IGS, a Taiwan manufacturer and Andamiro from Korea.  In the game zone, the gift machines, which can clip lottery tickets and snacks are more popular.  Goods are available in all varieties of racing, basketball machines, shoot machines and redemption machines.  But the fighting machines or dancing games cannot be seen, which is maybe because of the local culture.  The chief editor of GTI visited on Saturday, and Namco Oberoi Mall Mumbai opens at 11a.m. after which people quickly started to arrive to play in the mall one after another by about 11:35a.m.  Compared to the game zone, the kid’s zone is more popular.  In terms of price, the kid’s zone is 200INR for one time, and some elder children for which the height limit is between 100cm and 130cm must pay 300INR for one time.

7.    Many families play games together, showing the prosperous business of the FEC at Timezone in R-City Mall.

9.    Products of Taiwan manufacturers have developed deeply in the India market, such as drummania from IGS, Whac-A-Mole from Feiloli, kiddie rides from Tecway/Mecpower, as well as crane machines from Paokai and so on.

10. VR games have become one of the indispensable pieces of equipment in the entertainment center.

 

Timezone was founded by Australia Leisure & Allied Industry Group in 1978.  It is an FEC franchise brand with a history of several decades.  Currently, there are more than 230 NAPA stores in 7 countries – Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, India and Vietnam.  The FEC of Timezone in R-City Mall is divided into two parts: outdoor entertainment and indoor games.  Some prices of outdoor entertainment are between 60 INR to 120 INR ($1~$2) and the equipment is basically comprised of Chinese products.  But the temperature in Mumbai averages around 30 each year.  However, the chief editor of GTI visited Timezone on Feb. 25 with the temperature about 37 and the body temperature was more than 40 under the direct sunshine so that no one was willing to play outside.  It is said that the day's revenue is not very optimistic because of the long time vacancy of the outdoor equipment.  By contrast, there were many types of family games, a variety of redemption machines and stalls games at indoor games area, but the fighting machines or dancing games could still not be seen.  The VR facility is of the 2013 European and American style, closed cabin for 2 persons, spending at 150 INR, as well as the new arrival Mini Riderof South Korea Simuline.

Prime Time Sport Entertainment Center

11. Street Basketball produced by Taiwan manufacturer Saint-Fun was displayed at the center.

12. There are laser games, archery, bowling, billiards, and various sports machines in Prime Time Sports Entertainment Center to meet the needs of young people.

13. Interesting beer gifts.

 

This sport entertainment center with the theme of sports is aimed at young consumer groups aged from 13 to 20 years old.  When people came in the center, the street music style with a strong moving rhythm can make people quickly get into the fast-paced entertainment atmosphere.  The store looks like a bar, not like an ordinary video game hall or FEC center, which shows the spacious appearance and bright lights.  This center is located at the corner of the top floor in the shopping mall which is consistent with the dynamic and mysterious psychological needs of young people; it is equipped with Philipbar machines, boxing balls, beer gifts machines, shooting bottle games in street style, an archery experience area, laser interception game, basketball machines, bars, billiards and other multi business projects to cater with the youngers who enjoy themselves with feasting and other kinds of entertainment, and prolong their stay in the store.

 

Kidzania Experience Hall

Kidzania Experience Hall is very popular with local people.  Parents prefer to take their children to the hall than to the video shop at the weekend because all of the experience area of the hall opens for free to all 2-year old and under kids.  Without the limit of a one-child policy in India, the consumption effect of 1 plus N is more advantageous.  The playing time’s length as the charges standard can be divided into two types: playing within 5-hour & whole day.  For children aged 2 to 4 will be charged in 600 – 750 INR ($9 - $11.5) ; for children aged 4 to 16 will be charged in 950 – 1,400 INR ($14.6 - $21.6) ; for people aged 17 to 59 will be charged in 500 – 650 INR ($7.7 - $10) ; for aged over 60 years old will be charged in 300 – 400 INR ($4.6 - $6.2).
