Russia to kick off debate on gambling tax hike (2017/11/09)

The parliament was set to review on November 10 an amendment proposed by the Finance Ministry that would increase overall gaming taxes in the country.  Under the new structure, operators would see gaming tables increase their levies up to $4,300, from the current $863.  Slots machines will also suffer heavy taxation, with new fees amounting to $250 from the current $51.  The government is also analyzing a tax increase for online betting processing centers or TSUPIS.  These would see an increase from $43k to $51k.  The news comes hot on the heels of the announcement from the Ministry of Finance that double taxation will start January 1, 2018.  The Ministry had announced the government planned to gradually rise gaming taxes by a factor of 10 before the end of 2020.
