The conclusions of the VI international Gaming Symposium, SIJUEGO, recently held in Bogotá, confirm that the moment and the current developments of the gaming industry in Colombia with the online betting regulations and new games constitute a technological challenge and economic opportunities without antecedents for individuals, while ensuring a notable growth of taxes for the health sector.

One of the most important topics highlighted in SIJUEGO 2017 was the interlocution of guilds from different sectors of the economy.  The meeting took place in a panel that highlighted the current situation, thanks to the new regulation of COLJUEGOS that authorized the installation of internet betting points, bets on racing and virtual sports ACDV, and en-route machines in non-specialized establishments in games of chance.  The guilds were receptive and willing to study the subject and look for possible allies that make this new line of business in their premises.  Another important conclusion about computer security is that the regulator has produced a strict regulatory framework for both operator and player protection and safety.  However, cyber threats and attacks in all attitudes are constant and the care of information and control system must be permanently tuned and alert at all times.

SIJUEGO 2017 was a two-day event including academic agenda and a business conference.   With the theme of “Reputational Marketing in the Gaming Industry of Colombia”, the academic segment discussed the construction of a responsible public gambling policy.  This project includes the collection of good practices in other countries and preventive gambling activities in all gaming channels, both in person and virtually.  The networking of commercial relations resulted in an important result in number of contacts and activation of business.  It was highlighted the presence of the sponsor WPLAY, the first Internet betting platform certified and authorized in Colombia to operate.  Global Bet displayed its bets for racing and virtual sports ACDV, which are another modality of game that arouse expectations in the national market.  Zuum was also part of the sponsors of SIJUEGO 2017.  In the framework of the business conference, the magazine El Apostador was launched, to be directed by veteran journalist Guillermo ‘El Mago’ Dávila, a player-directed publication with statistics, forecasts and printed and virtual results.
