Animation park in Bandar Meru to open by June 26 (2017/05/17) |
THE Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS) development at Bandar Meru is almost complete and expected to be ready by June 26. MAPS founder Ramelle Ramli said the RM520mil project on a 21ha piece of land was now 96% completed. “MAPS is highly anticipated and we acknowledge that there have been shortcomings to the development. “I assure the public that it is a result of the decision to enhance and increase the entertainment value of the park,” he said during an exclusive site visit for media on Friday. Ramelle added that those who purchased the tickets earlier for the annual or Perak passes can be assured that the validity will commence when the park opens and applicable for the next 12 months. “I thank the pass holders for their patience and understanding,” he said. The single day passes will be valid for three months after the park opens, he added. “Tickets are now available for purchase,” he said, adding that the theme park houses both international and homegrown intellectual properties, including characters from Dreamworks such as Smurfs, Mr Peabody and Sherman, Casper the Friendly Ghost and BoBoiBoy. “The tickets will soon be available at several points of sales, including a roadshow,” he said, adding that MAPS will actively campaign to be included in regional travel fairs and trade exhibitions. Ramelle said the theme park is estimated to attract one million visitors. “With the anticipated visitor volume, the theme park will act as a catalyst for the state’s tourism industry and economy. “MAPS will employ about 500 people, of which 73% will be locals,” he said. “Our intention is not only to provide job opportunities, but also to nurture talents’ skill sets to meet international theme park standards,” he added.
