Fun is serious business in Malaysia. Malaysian property developer, Sunsuria, and Welcome Global Company, a unit of South Korean outfit Ever Rich Land Company, are firming up plans to jointly develop an 8.5-acre parcel of land in Salak Tinggi, 50km south of Kuala Lumpur. According to reports, the land is slated for a mixed-use development comprising serviced apartments, a shopping mall, theme park and boutique hotel. The project has been valued at MYR700m ($170m). Sunsuria’s other notable projects in Malaysia include Suria Residence, which comprises freehold serviced apartments, and Trivo, a soon-to-be-completed commercial development.
Austin Heights Water and Adventure Park is regarded as the most important destination to attract tourists in Johor
The country has targeted the tourism sector as an area in which to encourage investment – and the theme park industry has taken note. The result has been a boom in amusement park development. The most recent achievement? The opening of Austin Heights Water and Adventure Park in Johor, Malaysia.
The waterpark will no doubt help spur additional growth in the region’s increasing tourism sector. During the first six months of 2015, the state had already recorded an improvement of 12.81 per cent in visitors, allowing state officials to identify Johor as a top destination among tourists.
