Opened! New Zealand will get new indoor playgrounds |
New Plymouth, New Zealand had no new indoor playground for three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and is expected to open two indoor playgrounds this year thanks to deregulation and economic support. Rumpus Room in this city closed in 2018, leaving residents there with no soft play facilities. Now, Bowlarama, which already operates a tenpin bowling, laser tag and mini-golf FEC, is planning to open a ‘Kidz Corner’ before the year is out. It is reported that the old Rumpus Room climbing frame will be repurposed and installed in the Bowlarama site, where it will be joined by a new ninja course. The playground will be aimed at under-14s and will be accompanied by a café. Meanwhile down the road in the suburb of Waiwhakaiho, MegaBounce Trampoline Area is planning its own addition to the adventure play space. It’s building a 1400 sq.m fun park which will house a multi-story playground to expand its play offering. (2022/06/10)
