Eager to reopen! Malaysian karaoke centres struggling a lot |
Malaysian Family Karaoke Association said that total losses incurred by operators in the pandemic had so far amounted to RM250m (€51m). With no income and huge expenses on monthly rentals, employees’ wages and other fixed expenses, family karaoke operators are finding it hard to sustain themselves. Therefore, the operators of family karaoke centres in Malaysia have pleaded with the country’s government to permit them to reopen. “Other high-touch services, such as hair salons, gyms, fitness centres and mass gathering venues such as casinos and shopping malls were allowed to resume operations, but family karaoke centres are still not allowed to resume business.” It called for the same level of attention as other industries under the Movement Control Order that has been issued that allows other types of business to reopen on March 4.
