Business suspension on Cambodian entertainment centers will be lifted? |
In order to contain the spread of COVID-19, all KTVs, cinemas and other entertainment centers in Cambodia were ordered to suspend business in March this year. Now, many owners of bars, nightclubs and KTVs call on the government to lift the ban because they have learned bars, KTV and other entertainment centers in Thailand were reopened in June this year with the hope that the entertainment industry will recover from the epidemic as soon as possible. In addition, 169 labour representatives in the industry gathered in front of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs on June 25 and called on the Cambodian government to provide a monthly subsidy of $40 to workers in the industry. According to the petition they filed, the government announcement of business suspension after the outbreak of the pandemic has resulted in stressful life of many workers in the industry. Thus, they hope that the government will call on landlords to reduce rents during the fighting against COVID-19. (2020/07/10) |
