The first phase project of Hunan Overseas Chinese Town Cultural Tourism Resort was put on record on the Hunan Province Investment Project Online Approval and Supervision Platform on September 24, 2020. The project covers an area of about 280,000 sq.m with a total investment of $500 million. Different from other single-function urban parks, this cultural tourism resort relies on the leisure business of Xiangjiang River and aims to build a complex community for life.
In addition the building of the river scene of Xiangjiang, other supporting facilities of the project are also under intensive construction. The repair work of the Laiyan Pagoda is fully completed. The Urban Planning Exhibition Center started its construction in May 2019. And the water park will begin construction in December 2020, which is expected to open in the summer of 2022. The construction of museums and Happy Harbor will all start in 2021. After completion, OCT Happy Harbor will not only bring Hengyang a world-leading riverside experience, but also create a world-class park to set a model of costal lifestyle in the world.
