CMC Inc. signed an investment cooperation agreement with Chenghua District Government of Chengdu. The company plans to invest ¥10bn ($1.45bn) in Longtan Wetland area, Chenghua district of Chengdu, Sichuan province, China, to create a global entertainment and education travel destination and immersive exploration tourism resort with "Discovery" as the core IP. It is said that the total planned area of Discovery World is about 2000 mu (1,333,333 sq.m). With the theme of "Experiencing Humanities, Exploring Nature, and Discovering Yourself", two major exploration areas are planned to be constructed, namely, Discovery Town and Discovery Camp. It will cover five major functional groups: Discovery Small Town, Exploration Camp, Wilderness Survival, Interstellar Adventure Island, and Sky Exploration. Besides, there will be a series of core projects such as Discovery World, Chinese Art Center, Discovery Theme Hotel, Shengzhishui Water Park, and Discovery Base Camp. It is estimated that Discovery World will attract more than 5 million tourists every year, driving the related industries to increase their annual income by ¥4bn -¥ 5bn ($578.8m - $723.5m).
