GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2016 is going to take place at B & C zones of Taipei World Trade Center, on April 28~30, 2016.  This yearˇs exhibition will be organized on the basis of business and large arcade products.  Manufacturers in the fields of mobile games, indoor themed amusement equipment, and vending machines, to name a few, are sincerely invited to join the show to add more variety to the exhibition content.

Now, as the exhibition will soon be upon us, the industry likewise ought to think of the problem of ¨Intellectual Property〃.  Not long time ago, the bicycle exhibition held in Taiwan was prohibited by the organizer due to doubts about product legalities. Although it was later proven that the show had been the victim a poison-pen letter and was subsequently allowed to proceed, this unfortunate event inspired the exhibition organizerˇs determination to protect ¨Intellectual Property〃.

With improvements in technological products, the concept of intellectual property should grow as well--especially as the game industry is part of the cultural creative industry.  According to the definition of Taiwanˇs law on intellectual property, it is ¨the thought of the creators which is based on their mental creativity and worth the value of which property is legalized as a right through the legal system〃.

The relevant laws which protect intellectual property in Taiwan include: Patent Act, Trademark Act, Copyright Act, Trade Secrets Act, Integrated Circuit Layout Protection Act, The Plant Variety and Plant Seed Act, Fair Trade Act, and so on.  To protect their rights, many manufacturers not only apply for copyright patents but also seek related protective action through patent applications in other countries.

GTI Asia Taipei Expo has been promoting concepts about Intellectual Property Rights for many years.  Although there were in the past a few manufacturers infringing othersˇ patent products for short-term benefits, this kind of behavior is now rarely seen in Taiwan.  That also makes us look even more forward to this yearˇs GTI Asia Taipei Expo.  There will be chances to see more creative and new products for people of all interests!
